Salami Making Demonstration
My sister Lorraine and I were both delighted to spend the evening with James and his lovely wife Kathy on Wednesday evening at, The Meat Room. The meet room indeed, the deli / cafe' / restaurant is such a trendy, cosy, welcoming spot, to meet with friends and family while visiting Kilmore.
I was mesmerised by all the beautiful jars of imported foods, handmade pastries and the high quality of meat cuts, oh and did I mention the exquisite wine selection?
James delivered a casual yet informative salami making demonstration, while Kathy provided her guests with the most delicious charcuterie boards, best you believe I was in my happy place.
Here's what I discovered about James and his craft for salami making:
Born from an Italian heritage and inspired by his grandfather, James' passion for salami making is deeply rooted by family tradition. What began as a cherished practice passed down by through generations, has grown into a lifelong craft.
Over the years, James has travelled throughout different regions of Italy, learning traditional salami making techniques from locals, discovering unique flavours, ingredients, styles and time honoured methods along the way.
It's this passion, knowledge, and respect for tradition that James brings to his salami making demonstrations at The Meat Room, that I was truly humbled by. He shares not only the process,
but the heart and heritage behind authentic Italian salami making.
There's something deeply inspiring about watching someone so connected to their craft. Watching James demonstrate the art of traditional salami making reminded me why I have this hungry heart to learn to cook everything from scratch, using traditional, old fashioned methods, and finally after a lifetime of searching, I know I'm on the right path.
Making the experience at The Meat Room even more special, was having my like-minded and nutritionist sister Lorraine, join me. Of course, we now plan on buying salami making equipment, and my crafty husband will have his time filled making us a cabinet to dehydrate our future salami, but were all happy as Larry. Between learning something new, soaking up the warming atmosphere, and simply enjoying time together, it turned into one of those simple but meaningful sister nights out, the kind that fills your cup in the loveliest way.

This sounds like a lovely night out and so informative, I'll be looking into this for myself and husband, thanks for the share Jen 😉
